Bible reference:
Luke 2:14
“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favours!”
Reflection:
Jesus was born in Bethlehem. The town was full because people had travelled there to comply with the Roman edict that everyone should go back to their place of birth to be registered. Because there was nowhere to stay, and Mary was close to the time to give birth to Jesus, the Innkeeper offered Mary and Joseph space in the Inn stable. It was sheltered and it was probably warm from the heat of the animals who shared the space. The angels sang praises to God on the night of Jesus’ birth, and appeared to shepherds on the hills nearby and told them where to go to see the newborn baby.
Prayer:
Thank you Father God for the birth of your son Jesus who was laid in a manger in a stable in Bethlehem, because the inn was full. Thank you for the angels who appeared to the shepherds, singing glory to God and peace on earth Amen.
